Thank you to the thousands of people who attended performances of Elemental Force in 2013.
We’re sure you will agree that it was a phenomenal experience, blending performance, film and fire with the history of
some of the East Midlands’ most iconic locations.
Elemental Force was a series of free spectacular large-scale outdoor shows which put historic buildings centre stage and use light, sound and film to celebrate the rich heritage of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
Building on the themes that made the Opening Ceremony of London 2012 Olympic Games so memorable, these events will capture the drama and excitement of the region’s past, present and future.
Some of the area’s most significant historic buildings have been chosen as the backdrop for these events. The stories of these sites will be brought to life by some of the country’s leading outdoor artists in a way that audiences have never seen before, using a combination of giant digital projections with stunning visual special effects and pyrotechnics.
The animations and effects were tailored to each location drawing on the tales and sagas associated with the sites – making each show a truly unique experience.
The sites were transformed for the evening with fire and lighting. Audiences found themselves in a fire garden surrounded by flickering trails and fire-based installations and had the chance to explore their surroundings in anticipation of the main event. On each landmark building a huge projection appeared as the story unfolded through film, music, fireworks and aerial dancers suspended high in the evening sky.
These free events were developed and staged by a team led by Derby based Déda Producing, which has a track record of delivering spectacular outdoor events aimed at audiences of all ages.
